Importing Contacts

How do I import from other email applications (Outlook Express, Yahoo!, Hotmail, or Gmail)?

Most email applications provide a method for you to export your contacts. For specific instructions, please consult the help documentation for that application. Try typing the term “export” into the search box. Look for topics such as “export contacts” or “export address book”.

Below are some general instructions to help you get started.

Microsoft Outlook Express:
From the main menu bar, select File > Export > Address Book.

Select Text File (Comma Separated Values) and Click Export.

Yahoo!:
To export your Yahoo! Mail address book as a CSV file, follow the instructions at: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ab/impexp/

Hotmail:
At this time, Hotmail does not provide an export function, but one way to do it is to copy the contacts out of Hotmail, paste them into an Excel document, and use Excel to
Save As a CSV file.

Click the “Contacts” tab within your Hotmail account.

Click “Print View” on the menu bar. Select the entire list by placing the cursor at the upper left (beginning with the “Name” column) and while holding down the cursor, drag all the way down the list.

Copy that selection, by using the Edit > Copy menu or by holding down the Ctrl key and pressing the C key. (Ctrl+C)

Open Microsoft Excel, and paste the selection into the top cell A1, using Edit > Paste or Ctrl+V.

Now Save As, and select File As > File Type > CSV.

Gmail:
At this time Gmail does not provide an export function, but one way to do it is to copy the contacts out of Gmail, paste them into an Excel document, and use Excel to Save As a CSV file.

Click the “Contacts” link near the bottom of the left controls column, above labels.

Click “All Contacts.” Select the entire list, by placing the cursor at the upper left (to the left of the uppermost checkbox), and while holding down the cursor, drag all the way down the list.

Copy that selection by using the Edit > Copy menu or by holding down the Ctrl key and pressing the C key. (Ctrl+C)

Open Microsoft Excel, and paste the selection into the top cell A1, using Edit > Paste or Ctrl+V.

Now Save As, and select File As > File Type > CSV.
